Power of emotions on action in Shakespeares Othello Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

What does the play Othello tell us about the power of human emotions as a contributing force to human behaviour? Discuss one or more of the characters in the context of your answer. The play Othello by William Shakespeare focuses on how human's emotions can play a role in their behaviour. Particularly the emotion of jealousy as a driving force in peoples lives. Shakespeare also explores how letting our emotions take control of our lives can lead us to do things that would otherwise seem ludicrous. Othello and Iago are two particular characters who demonstrate these ideas very strongly, with Othello murdering his wife in a fit of jealous rage, and Iago, fuelling that jealous rage, because of his own underlying jealousy. Whilst the two characters are supposed to represent the good and evil in the play of Othello they have much in common as they were both victims of their own emotions.
