Old Yeller by: Fred Gipson Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

Summary: A 14 year old boy named Travis is left man of the house while his father goes away to Kansas to get money. And one day he was sent out to get the meat from the "Dog Runner" and when he got there, the meat wasn't on the hook. All there was, was a Big, Ugly, sickly Yellow (Yeller) Dog. Underneath. He brought the dog home to show his mom what has happened to the meat. He started kicking it and his little brother Arliss, Wouldn't part with him. So they decided to keep him. That night there were 2 bulls fighting in front of the house. Travis watched until the started ramming the house. Travis got his dad's whip out and started going out to the bulls. Old yeller thought he was going to be whipped so he ran into the woods. After the bulls ran off, they settled and went to sleep. The next day Arliss snuck out to swim in the springs. But he was screaming with his arms wrapped tight around a black bear cub's leg. The black bear cub was whimpering and crying. Travis and his Mom went out to try and save him until they saw the "Momma Bear" March out from the woods and about to kill Ar......
