WHY DIVERISTY IS IMPORTANT IN PSYCHOLGY Psychology is known as a field of science that studies the human mind and behavior. Psychology studies all aspects of humans experience ranging from birth to elderly. Psychologists are interested in how the environment impacts ones behaviors, and how the brain impacts ones behavior. It will come as no surprise that since psychology studies people that there are going to be diversity concerns. Psychologists must prepare themselves for these concerns, and receive training on diversity and ethics to ensure they treat everyone with respect and do not offend anyone. It was during the National Multicultural Conference and Summit (NMCS) held in 1999 that it was discovered that Psychologist were lagging behind in there training when it comes to the diversity issues at hand in America today.
