On April 12, 1865, three days after the surrender of Confederate General Robert E. Lee, Abraham Lincoln gave a speech that included his desire to make the freed negroes made American Citizens.
John Wilkes Booth was in the crowd, that day, and having heard Lincoln's words, became extremely aggitated. He decided, then and there, that Lincoln whould be assassinated, rather than kidnapped, as he had originally planned. He remarked to himself, that the speech Lincoln had just given, would be his last!
On the morning of April 14, 1865, which was Good Friday, Booth,who was an actor at the Ford's Theater, in Washington, D.C., arrived at the theater to collect his personal mail.
