The bible, being the world's number one bestseller, has been translated countless times into different languages or even in the same language but with updated vernacular. These small changes in wording have had a sizeable effect on the way the Bible can be interpreted by the reader. Focusing on the passage where God tests Abraham (Genesis 22) from the King James Version, the New International Version, and the Torah (English translation), makes the effect the differences in language and diction have on the reader quite evident. Written in Old English the King James Version takes the most time to dissect and fully understand. While the New international Version and the Torah are both in English, there is an inconsistency in some details that allows the reader to walk away with two different accounts of the event. When first introduced to the passage, the most obvious difference is that some of the words aren't spelled the same.
