Scholarly Personal Narrative on "Where we stand: Class Matters Reading Where we stand was both very different for me but became more interesting while continuing on through out the book. It was mostly different only because the cultures and races that Hook talks about is something with my upbringing / culture, I was not familiar with. When I was little we did not have blacks around our area and especially no blacks in our school systems. My parents only mentioned blacks when we asked about them and the answer to any of our questions was "just stay away from black people", no explanation why until we got older. So when readying class matter Hook seemed very feminist but touched on a lot of different areas in her upbringing which I found interesting. I could relate to A LOT of her up bringing situations mostly because we had a large family and did without a lot because of the size of our family and the financial burden of only my dad being the single bread maker, as hook would call the working person of the family. My dad was a farmer and my mom stayed home and raised the six......
