In Their Eyes Were Watching God, the author talks about differences in gender in the pas time,
and compare them. She talks about how males were ruling over females, and what Janie wanted from
relationship was mainly her freedom not love, and for getting that she kept looking for more
relationships.
In Their Eyes Were Watching God, Joe Starks thinks that Janie should do the cooking like other
females and leave other important things to Joe, because of her gender. "Thank yuh yo' compliments,
but mah life don't know nothin' 'bout no speech-making" (140). This quote clearly shows that Joe Starks
does not think that Janie is good at speech making, because she is a female. This relates not only to me
but to everyone, because people are mostly judge by their gender, for example if you are male, you
have to do the hard jobs and you have a important role compare to females, and if you are female, you
get to do the easier things, and people except males to do better, because they believe that males put
much more effort and they are stronger so they can take more.
