Alice Paul - Womens Suffrage movement Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

Alice Paul was a member of the National Women's Suffrage Movement. Alice was born into a Quaker family. Alice and her close friend Lucy Burns united to form a successful women's suffrage which later led to the Nineteenth Amendment. At the time President Wilson was in office. After one hundred and forty women were killed in a fire because of no fire escape Alice went on a strike quoting that a VOTE is a fire escape. She led many strikes for women's right to vote. She and Lucy Burns set up a committee in Washington D. C. and protested everyday for the women to have the right to vote. She experienced a hard time staying their through rain, snow, and winds. Many times she attacked by angry mobs, mostly men. Their funds were suspended by the NWC (national women's committee) they went on a strike. Muhallen, a NAWSA member, died from amnesia which pushed Alice to go the next step. They honored her by not giving up. They stood outside the White House until they were locked up by the district.
