Many organizations are undergoing corporate transformation however successes are very rare (Welbourne, 1994). General Motors (GM) was affected with a decline in the automotive market share, and felt that by putting forth an effort to make customer satisfaction a top priority would help them pull the share back. Some organizations are downsizing, others are going global, while others are involved in mergers. These are only a few ways that the companies of today are transforming. This paper will discuss the transformation of General Motors and how the changes have impacted the company's manufacturing workforce, customers, and car dealership sales personnel. History General Motors, once the world's largest automaker was founded in 1908 by William Durant. GM employs over 325,000 people world wide and sells and services vehicles in over 140 countries (Berg, 2005).
