I am going to be answering the question: "How far in the period 1933 - 39 was Nazi social policy an attempt to engineer a master race?"
The use of the term "how far" in the question implies that I must make a judgement on the extent to which I agree with the statement. To reach this judgement I will have to look at a variety of sources and historians opinions to be able to come to a conclusion.
The Nazi party or National Socialist German Workers party, were elected on the 30th of January, 1933, their social policy covered all aspects of society, e.g. religion and family. The areas I am going to focus upon are: education, race, youth and euthanasia.
The term "engineer" in the statement means: to manipulate and control society to achieve a master race ideal. The Nazi party had a belief in creating a master race of one hundred percent Aryan Germans, with the typical Aryan characteristics of blonde hair and blue eyes, as well as being physically fit and with lots of children.
