The painting that I have chosen from the three to describe is Young Corn by Grant Wood. This painting was my choice because I love nature and because I personally found it physically appealing. The subject matter of this work appears to be the land, a farm, and hills. So basically the subject matter of this work is landscape. I say this because there is a wide area of land, a farmhouse, and many trees. There are many visuals elements used in this painting. Lines are used to form boundaries within the land. The crops are also used to make lines in the land. The lines are formed in certain ways to show the direction of the crops which causes your eyes to follow the crops and form unity. The curved lines of the hills are used to draw you to the horizon. The primary geometric shape that I observe in the work is circles. The house is triangular. Also, certain areas of the landscape appear to be rectangular. There are many organic shapes in the work. The three people are organic shapes. The trees in the painting are organic shapes.
