The theoretical perspective of an interactionist focuses on the micro level of family and one's intimate relationships. Interactionists are generally concerned with how individuals interact with one another and what types of relationships are amongst the family members. Interactionists rely highly on socialization to explain how children are raised and influenced. The term socialization is used by sociologists to refer to the process of inheriting norms, customs, and ideologies. Socialization provides the individual with the skills and habits necessary for participating appropriately within their own society. I myself, have in many ways been socialized to fulfill my gender roles as a male.
In my family there are three sons and one daughter. The boys always collected firewood in the winter and my sister would help my mom prepare the hot apple cider and goodies.
