When someone commits a true act of bravery, it is a life changing experience that they will never forget. To me, bravery comes in the form of putting the ones you love before yourself and to be selfless and courageous. An act of bravery does not only affect and extend to someone else, but to yourself as well. For me, this life changing act of bravery occurred on August 14th, 2003.
On August 14th, 2003, I was on a plane coming home from a month long vacation in Italy, with my mother and my brother. Despite the horrific accident that happened on September 11th, 2001, I love flying. We had been on the plane for eight hours and were no more than ten minutes from home, when the pilot made an announcement. He said that there had been a huge blackout in the United States and they thought it might be another massive terrorist attack. Due to the fact that they did not know whether or not it was a terrorist attack yet, we were not allowed to land.
