Fahrenheit 451 and 1984 -Comparative Essay Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

Evil only triumphs when good people choose to abandon their vigilance. The moment one sees corruption, it's difficult to impede it, but it's also difficult to knowingly stand by and remain silent. In George Orwell's Nineteen Eighty-Four and Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451, both Winston Smith and Guy Montag's antipathy for their corrupt society forces them to rebel against it. Guy and Winston are highly individualistic and intelligent and consequently, they are aware of all their society's duplicity. Moreover, Winston and Guy's rebellious actions invoked them to go against the status quo. They both believe that they can make a difference through their rebellion. In Nineteen Eighty-Four, Winston Smith is a curious and pensive individual who is a far greater intellect than most of the people of Oceania. He lives in a world constantly supervised by omnipresent telescreens and controlled by a totalitarian government.
