Shakespeare: Power of One Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

From the early 16th century to early 17th century, a cultural and artistic reformation was occurring, known as the Renaissance. Also referred to as the Elizabethan Era, this time period was noted for tearing away from the social and cultural trends of the Late Middle Ages. It was a time in which arts flourished and Humanism was spreading, allowing citizens to experiment artistically. One of these individuals who took advantage of the thriving arts was William Shakespeare, who is now known as one of the most prominent and recognized writers in history. Born in Stratford-upon-Avon in 1564, Shakespeare attended the King's New School, where he was influenced by ancient authors such as Virgil, Ovid, and Seneca. He arrived in London during a bright time of English theatre, as new forms of drama were emerging, mixing classics with native drama. In 1594, he joined Lord Chamberlains Men, an acting company out of London, and his career began to soar. He began composing many plays, including comedies, histories, tragedies, and romances, and had written over 35 plays before his death in 1616. In......
