Life and Times of Sigmund Freud Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report
Sigmund Freud was born on May 6, 1856. His father was a 41 wool merchant and his mother was 21. Sigmund had 7 siblings, and his parents favoured him, sacraficing everything to give him a proper education. Freuds father lost his business in an econmy crisis, so they moved and settled in Viene, where Sigmund enrolled in high school. He was an outstanding student and graduated with honors. Sigmund Freud attended the University of Vienne medical faculty to study. Becoming frustrated with his lack of success, he chose to change courses.
In 1874, Freud was supervised by physiologist Ernst Wilhelm von Brucke, and it didn't take long for him to adopt the new dynamic physiology. Brucke believed that the living organism was a dynamic system, and to them the laws of chemistry and physics applied. This belief was the starting point for Freuds psychology of the mind and the unconcious. In 1881 Freud received his M.D. with his thesis on the spinal cord of lower fish species.
