Marital Communication Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report
As I begin to review this situation, in my opinion referring to the scenarios between Martha and Andy the situation is setting a negative affect of communication. (negative affect, Gottoman pg338 in the text bk).
Martha has given all the reasons available why she has a one track mind set for example expressing that there was no way or form that she wanted to relocate or even consider the opportunity that was given to her husband. One reason being that she loved her job, and didn't want to give it up for nothing or no one. She never once mentioned why she couldn't be flexible or try to see if there might be a position at this new opportunity in the same area she enjoys if they do relocate she was mind said on a quick no.
The scene presented all three differences of communication which are as follow:
1- report talk
2- rapport talk
3- "female demand/ male demand without comm-patto
Report talk referred to (text book pg338).
The matter of having been offered a job with a commitment to relocate was presented by Andy as "report talk", a conversation ......
