In the poem This Is Love by Karlo Mila extended metaphor is used to capture the audience with comparing love to something in everyday life. Another method she has used which has affected my idea on love is the way the poet has set out her stanzas, how she has used dashes in her poem to break up her thoughts. Karlo Mila is famous for writing poems of extended metaphor and has written many on romance and love. Another is Hook Line Sinker; this poem also captures the different ideas on love and men, using extended metaphor again comparing some men as fishermen. Another method used that affected my opinion of the poem is the narrative point of view-first person. there are many similaraties to these poems and they both have got the same idea on love and using on point of view such as we, I , you which is really useful in helping me understand the poem as I start to understand where they are coming from because they bring me in the poem as if I am there, experiencing what they are, feeling what they are.
