E-mail and Internet Use in the Workplace Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report
In my organization, e-mail and Internet use not work related is prohibited during work hours. As management has described it, this is a common practice in most organizations in the United States. Computer use is strictly for the achievement of company goals, and employees are only allowed to check his or her company e-mail during the course of the day. There is one exception to this rule, though, and employees are allowed to use the Internet during his or her lunch hours. Many employees take advantage of this opportunity and only use the Internet during lunch; however, there are a large number of employees who ignore the rule and use the Internet all day. This is a troublesome practice, and it is often difficult for management to enforce the policies regarding e-mail and Internet use. Although there are currently no restrictions on websites that can be visited, management has considered putting blocks on certain websites that would allow for distraction.
