Meningitis also known as bacterial meningitis is an infection and inflammation of meninges. The meninges are membranes that cover brain and the spinal cord. This inflammation causes changes in the cerebrospinal fluid that surrounds the brain and the spinal cord. Bacterial meningitis can cause death within hours of getting it,so quick diagnosis and treatment might be to late.(2) (1)
The cause of bacterial meningitis usually starts when bacteria gets in the bloodstream and moves to the spinal cord and brain. When bacteria invade the meninges because of a ear or sinus infection or a skull fracture can also cause bacterial meninges.
