Having a child is a wonderful, life altering experience. It also can bring many hardships to overcome. When I discovered that I was pregnant, I realized that my whole life as I knew it would come to a screeching halt. I really had no clue just how many changes I was about to experience.
I took the pregnancy test in March of 2006. I was with my best friend, who was also taking a pregnancy test. We both looked at the tests at the same time; we were pregnant. At least I didn't have to change my life alone; she would have to go through everything I did. This made me happy.
Besides being pregnant, my body was in shock. I was used to drinking and drugging every night for the past three years. That was all over as soon as I realized there was a child growing inside my body. Throughout the nine months, everything I did was different. I had to change the way I ate. What, I have to eat fruits and veggies? I had to change what I drank. What, no more alcohol, and I have to drink water? What, I have to take vitamins- where they serious?
