Here, in The United States, one could find many different ethnic and racial groups. One might say it is one of the most culturally diverse countries in the world. Hispanics are the fastest growing minority group in America. According to (Schaefer, 2006) Hispanics will equal one-third of the U.S. population, by year 2100. Hispanics are a very diverse culture here in the U.S. The estimated Hispanic population of the United States as of July 1, 2008, is 46.9 million (Pearson Education, 2000-2007).
Out of the 46.9 million Hispanics in the U.S., 64 percent are Mexican-American, making it the largest group of origin. The majorities of Mexican-Americans are Roman Catholics and hold their religion of great importance in their lives. They tend to have great family values and traditions that many still practice and hold dear to their heritage. Though not all of them speak English, many do. Most never give up their native tongue.
