The population of Iraq is approximately 23,900,720. About 75-80 percent of the population is Arabs, 15-20 percent are Kurdish, and Turkoman, Assyrian and others are 5 percent. Baghdad is the capital of Iraq. It is the largest and richest city in Iraq, with approximately 6.5 million people living there. Basal is located in the south of Baghdad, and Mosul is in the north.
Iraq has been a republic since 1958, and has 18 provinces. The main rulers of this country are Nuri Al Miliki, the prime minister, and Jalal Talabani, the leader. Iraq has an election every four years to define who the leader of their country will be.
