First of all, compensated dating is also named as "enjo kosai", the original Japanese naming. According to Lam (2003, p. 353), "enjo" refers to "assist" and "kosai" refers to "socializing and entertaining". Compensated dating indicates the trend starting from Japan about more than 10 years ago, including adults paying children for dating with them, usually involving sex, through a well-developed medium counting telephone registries and Internet sites (McCoy, 2004, p.1).
