Jesus of Nazareth was man who lived till he was about 35. He was crucified and supposedly resurrected on the 3rd day. He's teaching were inspirational and had a forgiving message. His followers who heard his messages saw them as truth and felt the responsibility to share his messages to the world. These followers are known as Christians (Bornkamm).
It seemed that Christians were stigmatized wherever they went. Jews had a difficult time with Jesus and his followers. Pharisees, the religious leaders felt threatened by Jesus. He had many followers and was making many converts. He also did demonstrations in which he made the Pharisees check them selves. "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs, which on the outside look beautiful, but inside they are full of the bones of the dead and of all kinds of filth (Matthew 23:27)."
