Locke vs. Hobbes Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

John Locke and Thomas Hobbes were among the greatest minds of their time. They had views and opinions that were revolutionary for their day and help shape the future opinions of people centuries after their death. After reviewing more about these two men, their life, views, and works, I can see how their intelligent thinking contributed to make the world what is like today. I personally, which most individuals will agree, that the world we live in is not perfect. The government we live in and live by is flawed; however nothing that man thinks of or creates, no matter how long he or she spends time on or how tediously they work upon it, will ever be perfect. I do believe that both of these men understood that, but expressed ideas to help society's situation the best they believed and knew how, with the same overall goal; peace and stability. Their outlooks on how to rectify government's flaws during their time differed, as did their views on man's tendencies and abilities. Thomas Hobbes was much more the pessimist than John Locke . Hobbes believed man was inherently selfish......
