Types of Love Sonnets Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

Love is a popular theme in many Sonnets whether they are Petrarcan, Diaspora, or Spencerian. The Sonnet's that I have chosen to analyze are; Love Sonnet XVII by Pablo Neruda which embodies the feelings of vanity a person could have; Sonnet 292 by Francesco Petrarca whom has lost love and is never able to find it again; and finally Sonnet 75 by Edmund Spenser which depicts devotion of a god-like nature. The analyses of these Sonnets will divulge their inner theme and tone which are buried deep within the characters of each. Love Sonnet XVII by Pablo Neruda is a Sonnet with a Diaspora rhyme scheme of a/b/c/d/e/f/g/h/i/j/k/l. The piece has a masculine rhyme scheme as each ending word is only one syllable for the most part. The volta occurs at the colon in the fourth stanza, it is at this point where the poet switches his perception from another to himself. The Resolution in this sonnet is that he loves himself and he knows it is wrong but will never strive to love another. The first half of the sonnet is made up of three separate simile's comparing his love to roses, topaz, and ......
