That quote was said by Atticus. Atticus Finch is a great man because he acts responsibly, behaves respectfully, and lives wisely. To start off, Atticus is a very responsible person in To Kill a Mockingbird. First, Atticus acts responsibly when he goes to Tom's jail to protect him from the lynch mobs. This shows responsibility because he knows that he should go defend Tom. He acts responsibly because if he didn't go Tom would probably get hurt. Secondly, Atticus is responsible because he listens to Jem and Scout instead of assuming things. This is responsible because he knows its better for Jem and Scout. This is also responsible because he doesn't just guess and falsely accuse them. Last, Atticus shows responsibility when he shoots Tim Johnson.
