Jack Johnson was a man who forever changed the history of African Americans in sports, as well as helped shatter the ignorant thoughts of white supremacy in America. In 1908, Johnson became the world's first black heavy weight boxing champion. His success as a boxer triggered a worldwide hunt, tainted with racism, for a white successor to regain the title from the seemingly unstoppable force that was Jack Johnson. Attractive, triumphant, and charming, Johnson became as well known for his antics in public as for his skills as a fighter. He made an unreal amount of money at the time, and spent it with a sense of style and confidence that the world had never seen from a black man. The manner in which Johnson carried himself and lived his life quickly got the attention of the entire world, gaining him massive amounts of fans, as well as an equal amount of foes.
People who were enraged by his success and lavish lifestyle anxiously awaited a white fighter to take the title of champion away from Johnson. On July 4, 1910 famed white boxer Jim Jeffries fought Johnson for the heavyweight......
