Social psychology summaries Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

In chapter one, the first part of the book talks about what is social psychology and how it is different from sociology. Social Psychology focuses more on the interpersonal relationships with individuals instead of sociology which focuses more on the study of people in groups and societies. Social Psychology is also more about how people are influenced, how they think, and how they affect one another. Next, the first of four sections talks about the main themes of social psychology. The first major topic is that "We Construct Our Social Reality." Human beings all have a want or desire to describe actions and behaviors, and find a reason for these actions. They do this so they can put these actions into an order and organize them. This organization can help direct or foresee future actions of a similar manner. The next topic in chapter one is "Our Social Intuitions Are Often Powerful but Sometimes Perilous." A large section of what we think about occurs not on conscious but an unconscious "intuitive" level. These social "intuitions" may provide......
