I couldn't hear anything. One of the surrounding nurses shouted something but I felt more pressure in my insides. They were trying to help me as much as possible, sympathy reflecting from their eyes. The pain expanded rapidly. I saw their mouths moving but my concentration was lost. The burning pain increased, making it barely tolerable. The sound of my heart pounding made my breath cling to the air, as I burned. While sudden waves of tossing pain hit me, my body gave a huge push. The sound of immediate wailing growing louder washed a wave of peace over me, all of the pain disappearing at that moment. Just as the nurse holding my baby said, "Congratulations, it's a girl!"
The joy of holding my baby was not something that words will convey. The tiny baby in my arms felt so incredible that I knew life had given me a precious gift. My eyelids grew heavy as darkness swept me over me and I felt them take her away from me.
