Throughout time, people have stood up for what they believe is right. Everyone from Moses to Mahatma Gandhi share a common characteristic: they all stood up for what they believed was right. So as was the case with William Tyndale. He thought that everyone, no matter what race or culture you were from, should have the chance to read the Bible and to discover who God was on a personal level. William Tyndale's Childhood No one knows exactly where William Tyndale was born (Rees 19). Some of Tyndale's contemporaries said that he was born "about the borders of Wales" (Moynahan 2). Some historians say that he was born at North Nibley, near Gloucester England. The date of his birth can be simply stated as in or about 1494 (Moynahan 2). The Tyndale family had two names which were Tyndale and Hutchins. However, the names had a wide variety of spellings: Tindale, Tyndal, Hychyn, Hewchyns (Moynahan 4).
