The four basic functions of management are planning, organizing, leading, and controlling. The four functions of management are not limited to use within a business environment. The four functions of management are skills that are needed in many of the everyday tasks many of us do. I am one of the many people in the US who is currently among the unemployed, but that does not mean I am not using the four functions. I currently attend University of Phoenix online courses; maintain a household with two teenagers and a husband. I need to use the four functions to manage my time and ensure my tasks are done daily.

Planning is the first if the four function and some say it is the most important. In the planning stage, I decide what needs to be done and how I plan on doing it.
