Long Live the Farm - Animal Farm Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

The novel Animal Farm is the story of a farm in England, wherein an old pig named Major has lived his entire life. He has gained a large cache of knowledge in his time on earth and has come to believe that the bane of all animals' existence is man. His ideals have been shaped by the cruelty and incompetence of the owner of the farm, Mr. Jones. Old Major tells the rest of the farms animals about his dream of a world where the oppressive rule of humans no longer exists, he talks about the easy lives animals would have if there was no human rule. He urges all animals to one day try to rid themselves of Mr. Jones' tyranny. Three days after he tells the animals of his dream, Old Major dies. The animals decide that they will go through with Old Majors idea. They wait for an opportunity to strike, planning their rebellion. Until one night, Mr. Jones, now an alcoholic after losing money in a lawsuit comes home drunk and forgets to feed the animals. The cows can't bear the hunger, so they break into the feed shed. Mr. Jones and his men find the cows eating the feed and whip them. ......
