Reflections on Mother Tongue Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

I believe every person wants to pursue the better, comfortable and safe place for living. That is the main reason why many immigrants who come from many different countries move to the United States, a country of freedom. After reading ¡°Mother Tongue,¡± written by Amy Tan, an American Chinese female author, I can totally understand her thoughts. In this story, she wrote her own experiences with her mother as an example. She was ashamed of her mother¡"s speaking because other people could not understand her mother¡"s meaning, and she needed to help her mother to translate for business. At the end of the story, she realized and understood her mother¡"s situation and forgave her mother¡"s ¡°broken¡± English. I am very interested in this story since it brings me to reflect on myself as an immigrant. I have been making many changes to get used to the life in the United States. Therefore I strongly believe as a Chinese immigrant that living in the United States is extremely difficult for everybody because of the languages, cultural pluralism, and belief. ......
