Why does the US continue to keep the Electoral College around? Did our Founding Fathers simply not realize that the Electoral College system effectively took the power away from the people to select the President of American? Yes, they certainly did. In fact the Founding Fathers had always intended that the states would be the one selecting the president, not the people.(Kimberling)This rule was put to work when it was hard to get a vote from every citizen because of where they may have lived.
