A Striking Old Man (Summary and analysis) Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

In the poem ¡"A Striking Old Man¡", the poet describes a scene where his grandfather moves in to stay with the family, but ¡"we¡" did not even know his age, or how ¡"reliable¡" he was. Their grandfather¡"s presence alone was able to, like a grandfather¡"s clock, remind the family of things that they did not/forget to do that day, and they also like the fact that he never complained about whatever they did not do. The poet¡"s relatives that were looking after his grandfather apparently got sick and tired of caring for the grandfather, argued that he had been too much a trouble and that he hardly fitted the relatives¡" way of life, and therefore he was unceremoniously ¡°kicked¡± to the poet¡"s family in a van one day along with the few things he had with him. The poet¡"s family came to love him and they soon realize, on his face, what he had gone through all this years, a lot of things he had been through that stand through time.
