No Country for Young Men Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report
In the "No Country for Young Men" (The Atlantic, Jan/Feb. 2008), Megan McAcardle begins her article referring to baby boomers in Newark, New York. Her concern is few people in that area are actually the working class. Which are posing issues with the elders who are dependent on the government for there monthly income. Which in turn causes the price of housing tax to increases, therefore the elder are unable to live independently. The decline in younger adults working, and the lack of families in the community, the small town has become dependent on the different government programs. She compares this small town to what our nation's future will be like.
Throughout her article Mcardle appears to be writing in a pessimistic view. Her views that future boomers are looking at an economic down fall towards Social Security. That by the 2030 arrive most of those who would be ready to retire will have to continue working in order to supply enough money for themselves and others.
