In the past five years CEO pay has increased 92% percent, while the people that work for them have only raised 16%. I have chosen several CEOs to pick apart. The first is virtually unknown. His name is Lawrence M. Coss. Coss is the CEO of a St. Paul based Green Tree Financial corporation. He earned a whopping $65.6 million last year, while his consumer finance company net income was only $254 million. True, his company performance has gone from $330 million in the last five years to $3.6 billion but his 2,300 employees only received an extra months pay that cost the company $3.5 million. There seems to be some gross inequities here as for as taking care of your people. Many believe the new breed of lean, mean, cost cutting executives possess no sense of shared sacrifice when a company is not doing good.
