The creation of Byzantine began with the division of Rome. Diocletian divided Rome in hoped of making its military larger and better. Diocletian thought that dividing Rome would insure that more order was kept to both sides of Rome and that rules and rulers were established. They also wanted to decrease the fighting rates. Rome was divided into East and West. The East part became The Byzantine Empire. The capital became Constantinople. Emperor Justinian ruled this part of Rome. Byzantine was created using the contributions from Greece and Rome.
Religion in the Byzantine Empire was a combination of Greek and Roman religious beliefs. In Greece, citizens believed in mythology. Mythology was basically how the Greeks worshipped their gods. In Rome, Christianity was the major religion of Romans. During the time period, Jesus educated Romans about Christianity. Then when he died on the cross, and buried, Romans believed that Jesus was a Messiah and he was resurrected. Thus he became an important part of Christianity.
