Speech Analysis of "Checkers" Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report
In the evening of September 23, 1952, Senator Nixon presented his speech that later came to be known as "Checkers" to the American people. In opening his speech, he declared that "the confidence in the integrity of the men" was something the people had to have in political office. Senator Nixon then outlined what his purpose and how he would prove his mistake and the misunderstanding. He explains the layout of the Senate office, details his complete financial history, and then explains what the campaign of Dwight Eisenhower will achieve. Throughout the entire speech, Senator Nixon maintained a consistent, calm tone with great articulation. Senator Nixon maintained his vision of the audience and made personal connections that were easy to relate to.
By asking questions of himself and why a particular piece of information was important, he kept his audience in mind.
