Good morning year 11 Psychology, Melissa and I will be doing our show and tell on dog behavior and the psychological effects of abuse on dogs. This is my Border Collie puppy Bonnie who we will be demonstrating good training techniques on. When a puppy is born it is much like a human baby, it is born into the world with a nose, 2 eyes and 2 ears, however unlike humans dogs learn to use their nose first and then their ears and then their eyes. The most relied upon sense for a dog is their sense of smell as they communicate with other dogs mostly through their scent. They also communicate through eye contact and body language. Dogs can sense your mood and the way you are feeling towards them through your own body language, for example if you are on the ground with them with your arms spread open this indicates to your dog that you are feeling happy towards them and are inviting them to play and they know that you are mad at them if you are standing over them looking angrily into their eyes. Dogs understand this as they display similar body language as humans depending on the way......
