To have an effective performance management program there will be an important factor that is necessary to be successful but is often forgotten. Management will often make the mistake and put all of their time into rating and ranking their employees, giving promotions, or laying off employees. These are important steps concerning performance management but not as importance as taking care of a company's employees. Performance appraisals involves three steps that a supervisor must take to ensure a successful evaluation well as a constructive outcome among their employee base. These steps are training, evaluation, and review (Performance Management, 2004). Earlier memos have discussed the training, in this memo the evaluation and review can be discussed.

Performance appraisals should be done at least once a year but would like to request this be done twice a year so that the team member will be updated on their progress more frequently, instead of waiting 12 months to discover how they are progressing in reaching their annual goals.
