Negotiations are a complex, and often times delicate, process by which several factors, internal and external, direct and influence the outcome. Simply put negotiation is communication between two parties. (1997) and through this dialogue between two parties an agreement can be made that benefits all involved. To be a successful negotiator an individual must first understand the dynamics each individual brings to the negotiating table. Personality plays a key role in the success of a negotiation. It is very important to recognize your own, as well as the other parties, negotiating personalities and to realize that adapting your style to compliment the others will pay huge dividends towards your success (2006). If an individual's personality is the whole then emotions, perceptions, and attitudes are the parts that make up an individual's personality (2006).
