Men and women are created equal, but women have always been placed into disadvantageous positions. Since the dawn of time, women have been traditionally described as the weaker sex, for they are expected to stay at home and take care of the children. On the other hand, men have always pride themselves as breadwinners of the family. However, with the opening up of more work opportunities for women, this stereotypical view has been displaced; women are fast gaining an equal foothold as men in the corporate world. And with more women transiting into the workforce, there requires a change in their dress styles , especially at work. In the early days when women first entered the workforce, their workwear had to be adapted from those of their male counterparts. Diana Crane, in her book "Fashion and its Social Agenda", discusses the need for working-class women to wear trousers or other masculine clothing to facilitate work as opposed to cumbersome feminine dress that restricted movements and inhibit their freedom.
