In US history, there were three major wars where US fought against the spread of communism. Those wars happened during 'Cold War Era'. It was in Korea, Cuba and Vietnam where United States foreign policies were passed. The Cold War developed in 1945 between Russia and America. They focus on the total domination of international affairs. Although both US and Russia started to compete for the power, it was just behind the curtain. A component of the Cold War, the Soviet Union was to expand the communist influence around the planet. Before the term 'Containment' was used, it started with the Truman Doctrine. He declared that US would help any country financially and militarily that was intended to keep the world with freedom of Democracy. At that time, Greece was in danger of communism. The communist guerrillas in Greece was taking orders from the Soviets after they committed a civil war. Therefore, US decided to assist the standing government in Greece because they believed it would have a large impact on Europe.
