Holes Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

The classic children's movie Holes is an exciting yet dramatic movie. The setting is on a ranch where troubled young men have the chance to "build character" when really they are searching for a missing treasure. This camp couldn't more fake than the warren, which is a mindless, evil, and a monkey of a lady, who in fact runs the camp. Stanley Yelnats IV is a young boy who finds himself at this camp, he has no idea why he's really there, he just wants to do his 18 months and go home. The opening scene of this movie has many great examples of mise en scene. A great one that stands out is the dominant feature. The very first thing that the audience sees is the burning sun. The sun is obviously high in the sky also centered and high in the shot giving the audience the effect that the weather is extremely scorching hot, but also gives the mystery off where the setting is and why are we there (1, 0:08). The next major thing the audience will spot is the lighting key at the camp, before Stanley gets there of course. This frame is bright, but dusty almost like it would......
