On the morning of September 11, 2001, the United States of America awoke to find itself under attack. In New York City, hijacked planes crashed into the World Trade Center and after two hours, both 110-story Twin Towers collapsed. With about 5,000 innocent deaths, September 11, 2001 was the deadliest day in American history. Tuesday, September 11th started like any other day. Adults went to their jobs, children went to school, and businesses went to work. Nothing was out of the ordinary and nothing was causing alarm. It wasn't until the first hijacking that the realization that something wasn't right came about. But even as the plane was hijacked, no one could have foreseen the horrors that were to occur that day. At 8:00 a.m., American Flight 11, headed for Los Angeles, left Logan Airport in Boston with 81 passengers and 11 crew members. Thirty five minutes later, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) alerted NORAD that the flight had been hijacked.
