Sixth Sense Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report
Through close analysis of the restaurant scene and the scene where Dr Crow is in the house with both Cole and his Mother, discuss the techniques used to make the audience believe that Dr Crow is alive.
The Sixth Sense is a film about a young boy called Cole, who has the ability to see and talk to dead people. A child psychiatrist, Dr Malcolm Crow is also a main character in the film.
Malcolm crow is shot in the first scene by one of his old patients. The film then quickly moves on to Dr Crow sitting on a bench outside Cole's house. It appears to the audience that Malcolm is still alive. However, this is not the case; he had been killed when he was shot. At eh end of the film it becomes clear that Malcolm had died and has been dead all the way through the film.
In this essay I will explore how the director had tricked us into thinking that Malcolm was alive by using camera angles, body language, facial expressions and illusions.
I will show that looking back on the film, now we know the ending; it was obvious to the audience that he was in fact dead.
