During and throughout the Second World War, mass production and manufacturing was just as important as the troops on the ground. During these times, women were called to work in the factories and abandon their traditional roles in the home. While doing this, the United States greatly over produced the Germans. By doing this the United States produced the fastest growth in military history, by producing more weapons, aircraft, and supplies than any other country during the war. To this day, we have never repeated this task. In a sense this shows the determination of the United States when our backs are against the wall.
In the Second World War, the United States was feeling pressure from other Allie countries to join the war, such as, England, France and Russia. And at this point manufacturing was extremely low considering the United States was still feeling the woes of the Great Depression.
